Food Bank Update July 2017
The Banc Bwyd Bro Ddyfi Foodbank based in Machynlleth would like to take this opportunity to thank the people of the Dyfi Valley, Advice Mid Wales and in particular the Co-op store in Machynlleth, for their continued support for this worthy cause. Without their help the Foodbank would not be able to operate. The Co-op does deserve a special mention, as a large proportion of the food issued to those in need, is gathered from the basket situated by the exit to the store, where the good people of the Dyfi Valley deposit their donations. At the present time we empty the basket in the Co-op once a week, which coincides with our demands at the moment. This does fluctuates throughout the year, it is important that donations continue throughout the year especially over school holidays
Whilst we all wish there was no need for Foodbanks, the situation is apparent. In 2015 the Foodbank issued 48 emergency packs, in 2016 it increased to 69.
Bro Ddyfi Food Bank exists in Machynlleth for the local population and provides a 3 day emergency food supply for those in immediate need. We cover Machynlleth and also villages in the Dyfi Valley. The Food Bank offers a helpful, confidential and discreet service to all

January 2014 Update
Since the November article a lot has happened. Firstly we have been blessed with many food donations so that we are well stocked for the post Christmas demand. Very many thanks to all who have given so generously.
We have also had three successful stalls two in the Wednesday market and one at the Christmas Fayre in Y Plas. Together they raised £277.83. We have also been very fortunate to receive several generous donations which have put our funds in good order.
We have now a dedicated phone line 01654 702043 on which all agencies and individuals can contact us. Thanks to clever technology we are able to switch the phone to whoever of the 10 volunteers is on duty. This phone line is open from 9.30 to 4.30 Monday to Friday. Outside these times messages can be left on the answerphone.
Following the example of Knightwick Food bank we have expanded our service to include helping people who are struggling to both pay for heating their home and have sufficient money to buy food. People can contact us direct on 01654 702043 or through a voucher holder.
The church voucher holders are:-
Revd Roland Barnes 01650 531650
Revd Kathleen Rogers 01654 702261
Aled Myrddin 01654 702907
Or if it is more convenient:-
CAMAD 01654 700071

We still need help please. Whilst we are well stocked with pasta, soup, baked beans and tea but we are low on supplies of coffee, sugar, tinned meat for sandwiches, long life milk and pitta bread so your gifts would be very welcome.
We would also welcome some help with the Food Bank at Y Plas. If you could spare an hour a week on a regular basis please could you contact our Chair Chris Gower on 01654 761742.
