On May 27th a very successful " Rainbow Sale " and Coffee Morning was held in the Parish Office in aid of Diocesan Funds. The Diocesan President, Mrs. Carol Cooper attended , and said she enjoyed visiting Machynlleth M.U as she always receives a very warm welcome. The sum of £236 was raised and thanks are due to Margaret Searson and Joyce for the window display, and all who helped on the day, and with the preparations beforehand.

On June 18th, sixteen members and friends travelled to Llanycil, near Bala, to the newly opened Mary Jones Visitor Centre. The weather was kind to us, and on arrival, we enjoyed a picnic outside. At 2.00 pm, we were welcomed by the curator, and given a video presentation on the work and history of the centre. We then proceeded to the renovated church ( now the Visitor Centre) pausing at the tomb of Thomas Charles en route. Inside the centre, many features of the original church have been retained, e.g the beautiful stained glass windows, altar, pulpit. and organ, providing an impressive backdrop to the interesting and informative exhibition of the Mary Jones story. The renovations were paid for by  Bible Societies throughout the world and generous individual donations.

After light refreshments in the cafe, we headed homewards. Mrs. Beth Bastock ,on behalf of all present, gave a vote of thanks to Joyce for arranging a most enjoyable outing, and to Ken for driving the minibus.

The Bangor MU held their Rainbow Sale at the Cathedral on 19th June and raised £880.25. Add to this, the good effort from both Corris and Machynlleth Branches, amounting to £236 with a grand total £1116.25. Well done everyone,

Diolch yn fawr.

Margaret Hughes.
