On June 18th, sixteen members and friends travelled to Llanycil, near Bala, to the newly opened Mary Jones Visitor Centre. The weather was kind to us, and on arrival, we enjoyed a picnic outside. At 2.00 pm, we were welcomed by the curator, and given a video presentation on the work and history of the centre. We then proceeded to the renovated church ( now the Visitor Centre) pausing at the tomb of Thomas Charles en route. Inside the centre, many features of the original church have been retained, e.g the beautiful stained glass windows, altar, pulpit. and organ, providing an impressive backdrop to the interesting and informative exhibition of the Mary Jones story. The renovations were paid for by Bible Societies throughout the world and generous individual donations.
After light refreshments in the cafe, we headed homewards. Mrs. Beth Bastock ,on behalf of all present, gave a vote of thanks to Joyce for arranging a most enjoyable outing, and to Ken for driving the minibus.
