Mothers' Union Prayer Pilgramage

On Thursday 13 th July, Machynlleth M.U. hosted a Prayer Pilgrimage. Seven members met at St. Peter's at 9.30 am, and after a hymn and prayers we proceeded to Holy Trinity, Corris, where we were joined by Corris members.

Our next stop was Llanwrin, where our Diocesan President, Mrs. Jenny Lane joined us. From there we crossed to the other side of the valley to Darowen. At each church, a hymn was sung and prayers were offered, led by Mrs. Sandra Wheeler.

At Darowen we enjoyed a picnic lunch in the sunshine and visited the holy well, before returning to Machynlleth for a service of thanksgiving and Holy Communion, led by the Rev. Roland Barnes.

By now, members from Porthmadog and Penrhyndeudraeth had arrived after visiting churches in Llwyngwril and Tywyn, and the four MU banners from Machynlleth, Corris, Porthmadog and Penrhyndeudraeth were processed down the aisle during the first hymn. Mrs. Jenny Lane gave the address, sharing stories from MU work in our link diocese of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

After the service, tea and cakes were served in the Mezzanine Room, and Joanne set up her stall selling MU cards and gifts.

The Diocesan President and our Enrolling Member, Mrs. Joyce Price thanked everyone for coming, and those who contributed in any way to the success of this new venture.

Members are reminded that Mary Sumner Day will be celebrated on Wed. 9th August in the 10.00 am service.
