Mothers Union - Sept 2017
Seven members attended the first meeting of the 2017/18 session on 21st September. Holy Eucharist was celebrated at St. Peter's Church, conducted by Rev. Kathleen, assisted by Mrs. Sandra Wheeler. The Rev. Kim Williams from Porthmadog joined us at the service.
The AGM followed in the Mezzanine room. The Enrolling Member welcomed everyone back after the summer break. Mrs. Ann Armstrong is recovering well after her accident; also Mrs. Marilyn Jones following her operation.
2016/17 was a very busy year with many interesting speakers. In the Psalms of Praise service at Penrhyndeudraeth, the Prayer Banner was blessed by Archdeacon Paul Davies. A vigil was held in Machynlleth to support organisations against Gender Violence. A Coffee and Pancake morning was a great success; also a Rainbow Sale. We hosted a Prayer Pilgrimage in July, and Margaret Searson and Joyce helped at the Church tent in the National Eisteddfod in August. The Rev. Kathleen was thanked for the service, and all the special services during the year. Thanks were expressed to the officials and all members for their loyalty and support towards MU. The officials were voted in en bloc for another year.
MU is asking for volunteers within the church to arrange a 'Brass Band' rota every month. A list can be found at the back of the church.
Our project this session is collecting hats, gloves and scarves for refugees. Toiletries are still required for Hospital Bags. Please bring to the October and November meetings.
Rev. Kathleen will be visiting Uganda in October. We wish her and the Diocesan group a safe journey and look forward to hearing all about it in the January meeting.
The next meeting is on Thursday October 19th at 2.00pm
