Mothers Union - March 2018

Eight members attended the " Quiet Afternoon" on March 15th. The service was arranged and led by Mrs. Sandra Wheeler.

Mrs. Joyce Price thanked Sandra for leading us in prayer, and Mrs. Margaret Hughes for accompanying the hymns. Mrs. Jean Ganderton from Llanwrin was welcomed to the meeting. Mrs. Sally Bullough was enrolled as a member into the Machynlleth branch on Mothering Sunday by the Dean of Bangor- the Very Reverend Kathy Jones. Mrs. Price paid tribute to the late Martin Riley, and attended the funeral service in the Cathedral. His wife Beryl has already joined a M.U branch in the Bangor area.

Some of the money raised at the Pancake Coffee Morning has been sent to Bangor for the AFIA fund- a M.U organisation which funds holidays for needy families. We were pleased to hear Llanidloes has now formed a M.U branch.

Bangor Cathedral will be commemorating the centenary of the end of World War 1 in November with an exhibition of 42,000 knitted poppies- one for each person in the Diocese who lost their life in that war. Patterns are available from Joyce for those who wish to make poppies.
