St. Mary - Llanbrynmair

The Church of St. Mary Llanbrynmair

The beautiful and ancient church of St Mary is located in the village of Llan, a mile and a half out of Llanbrynmair on the B4518. It was traditionally founded in the C6 but it is thought to have been dedicated to St Mary in the C12 although the present church dates back to the C15 or a little earlier.

Inside is a C13 font and some post medieval woodwork. The church yard is a raised circular enclosure with an C18 sundial and grave slabs dating back to the previous century. The western bell turret retains its original oak uprights and is thought to have been erected in the C17.

The church holds a bilingual Eucharist service on the second Sunday of each month at 9.30 am to which all are very welcome. The church wardens are John Thomas,  contact 01686 420560 and Glenys Lambert, contact 01650 521420.
