Penglais Nature Park (4:0 miles) Saturday 12th May.
We shall be leaving St Peter’s Church at 09:30 hrs and drive to Aberystwyth parking the cars in the left hand lay-by at the top of hill. The walk then crosses the road through the Halls of Residence and enters the newly restored Nature Trail adjacent to the Golf course. Taking a circular route we eventually arrive at the top of Constitution Hill. We shall avail ourselves of the cafe there before proceeding down the hill, along the prom and then make our way back to the cars.
Famed for its spring displays of bluebells, the Penglais Nature Park is situated on the north end of Aberystwyth. The beautiful woodland scenery of the park is a favourite local haven. The park is also the site of an old quarry as evidenced by its rocky slopes. Additionally, the park is the only UNESCO Man and Biosphere Urban Reserve in Wales.
